This Privacy Policy explains what data MakeLayout ("we," "us," "our") collects, why, and how it's handled — both for businesses who use MakeLayout ("Customers") and for the people who use the design widget on a Customer's own store ("Shoppers").

1. What We Collect

We do not require Shoppers to create an account to use the widget or place an order.

2. How We Use It

• To provide and operate the Service (render the editor, process orders, generate print files).
• To communicate with you about your account, orders, and — for Customers — billing.
• To improve reliability and security of the Service.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use Shopper data for advertising.

3. Where Processing Happens

Some design features — such as one-click background removal — run entirely inside the Shopper's own browser. The image never leaves their device for that step; nothing is uploaded to our servers to perform it.

4. Third Parties We Share Data With

We only share what each provider needs to perform its function, and we don't allow them to use your data for their own marketing.

5. Data Retention

We keep account and order data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations. You can request deletion of your data at any time — see Section 7.

6. Cookies

The widget uses a small amount of local storage/cookies necessary for it to function (e.g. remembering your design in progress). We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies on the widget itself. Our marketing site may use basic analytics cookies to understand traffic.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you're located (including under GDPR for EU/UK residents, and CCPA for California residents), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us — see below.

8. Children

The Service is intended for business use and for Shoppers old enough to make a purchase (generally 16+, or the applicable age in your country). We don't knowingly collect data from young children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the site or by email where appropriate.
